The Seagull is about the natural tendency to seek love in the wrong places. Masha is in love with the playwright Constantin, who is in love with Nina. However Nina ignores Constantin's affection and becomes infatuated with another man. Constantin must endure not only rejection but also the ridicule of his mother, Madame Arkadina, a fading diva.
