Wild North
- Season 1 - Episodes
(3)
Deep in the forest a female bear and three cubs emerge in the sunshine after hibernation. The first priority for the mother is to find food – and quickly, or her cubs will starve. Meanwhile, forest hunters such as the Scandinavian eagle unleash a reign of terror on forest rodents.
In the mountainous highlands we encounter two endangered predators, the Arctic Fox and the Snow Owl, both relying on a plentiful supply of lemmings. We also follow large herds of reindeer as they wander the plains in a spectacular eternal migration. Foxes, ravens and eagles are on a constant lookout for food and they track the herds relentlessly.
Far north in Svalbard, the polar bear depends on the ice to hunt seals. But with the ice receding, it has been forced to turn its attentions to a larger, trickier prey – the walrus. Meanwhile, in Norway’s spectacular fjords, large pods of Killer whales team up to hunt seals and porpoises while Sea eagles and Bald eagles dive-bomb the ocean on the hunt for fish or pluck small birds from the skies.
