Born 1903 in Blackburn, England, Perry Finnerman came from a family of nine boys and four girls, and the family emigrated to America in the 1920s. In 1928 Finnerman got a job at Warner Brothers as an assistant cameraman. He was soon promoted to camera operator, and in the 1950s was promoted to director of photography.
